VOLUNTEER
Become an ACSKC Hero— Volunteer Today
As a volunteer at ACSKC, you’ll play a vital role in our mission to provide food, shelter, medical care, and love to every adoptable animal—until they find their forever home.
Volunteering with ACSKC also supports broader community efforts through our food pantry, lost and found services, rehoming assistance, and more. Together, we can promote animal welfare, offer public education, and enrich the lives of pets and people across the Eastern Shore.

Who Can Volunteer?
Join our volunteer team today and help create a more compassionate community—one animal at a time. ACSKC welcomes volunteers age 16 and up, with full insurance coverage. Volunteers under 18 must have parent or guardian permission.
Once you complete a volunteer application, our Volunteer Coordinator will send you available orientation dates. After orientation and hands-on training, you can begin volunteering—on your schedule.
+ Group Volunteers
We welcome clubs, scouts, honor societies, youth groups, and school classes for service visits. Email Sonja Presgraves, Volunteer & Foster Coordinator, to schedule your group day: volunteer@acskc.org
+ Youth Volunteers
Kids and teens can make a big impact, too! ACSKC offers at-home and school-based service projects perfect for youth who want to help animals and give back.
Youth Volunteer Project Ideas:
Wish List Drives: Organize a collection of much-needed items like towels, food, or toys. Drop them off at the shelter and see the animals you’ve helped!
Lemonade Stands or Bake Sales: Raise funds for shelter animals through classic, kid-friendly fundraisers. Add a tip jar to boost your donations!
Make Fleece Blankets: Create cozy, hand-knotted fleece blankets to keep animals warm. Easy to make and deeply appreciated!
Note: Please bring donations or handmade items to the shelter Tuesday though Saturday, 8 AM- 4 PM. We’re currently unable to pick up in-kind donations due to limited staffing.
