Launch Your Career in Animal Welfare

ACSKC interns receive hands-on experience and learn valuable skills under the mentorship of people actively working in animal welfare.  Whether you provide daily enrichment to the animals or assist the Medical Coordinator with routine exams, ACSKC interns make meaningful connections that remain even after their internship has ended.

We’ve partnered with the Upper Shore Workforce Scholarship Program at Chesapeake College to provide a six-week, paid internship to provide career building opportunities for youths as they fed and cared for our shelter animals. This internship was sponsored by the Maryland Department of Rehabilitation Services Program.

In 2024, we will welcome a student intern from Kent County High School as they pursue a career in animal medicine. The internship will be offered in collaboration between Chestertown Lions Club, Maryland Business Roundtable for Education Next Generation Scholars, and Kent County Public Schools.

The animals benefit, too, of course! Your work will directly impact the day-to-day care and quality of life of our shelter pets.

Internship Sponsors Needed!

We would love to be able to offer more paid internship opportunities to our community! If you are interested in sponsoring an ACSKC intern, please message us at
